Science is telling us that unless we get to Net Zero by 2050, we will see increasingly adverse climate change which will present widespread risks to the financial system. The financial sector is particularly exposed to these risks through their lending and investment portfolios. Even so, new opportunities for banks will arise to finance the transition.

This masterclass explores the case for Financial Institutions to achieve Net Zero from both a risk management perspective and from a business perspective. We will also look at some of the key skills bankers will need to equip themselves with, to remain competitive and support their institution's sustainability ambitions.

About the Speaker

Jaclyn is a visionary Managing Director at Standard Chartered Bank (SCB). As Global Head of Sustainable Finance Strategic Initiatives in the Chief Sustainability Office (CSO) based in Singapore, she blends extensive financial markets and banking experience with a commitment to sustainability. She is responsible for defining and enabling the sustainability frameworks that drive SCB’s green, transition, social and sustainable lending businesses.

With 20 years’ experience in banking, markets, and risk management she’s a seasoned executive with broad geographic coverage across EMEA and Asia, with a deep knowledge of managing corporates, loan syndications, global subsidiaries and financial institutional businesses at JP Morgan, Barclays and Standard Chartered.

Jaclyn leads a multi-disciplined team across markets to drive initiatives that deliver SCB’s mission as a Global Cross-Border Affluent Bank fortified in sustainability.

MD & Global Head of Transition Finance

About the Speaker

Ben Daly runs our Transition Finance team and is based in London.

The team have specialism across the Battery Value Chain, as well as Carbon Capture and Storage, Alternative Fuels and Low Carbon Metals.

Ben has been at the bank for 10 years, and before Transition Finance was a natural resource banker. Ben started his career as a lawyer

Executive Director, Sustainable Finance, ASEAN

About the Speaker

Justin Ma is the Executive Director of Sustainable Finance for ASEAN at Standard Chartered Bank where we have pledged to mobilise USD300 billion in sustainable financing by 2030. Over 78% of these sustainable finance assets are located in Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

With over 16 years of experience including the wider Asia Pacific, he has also held leadership roles for Sustainable Finance across South Asia and globally for Sustainable Trade. Key contributions include the development of the region’s Sustainable Finance ecosystem including transition, sustainable as well as blended finance.

Lester Tan

Director, Sustainability Development and Content

About the Speaker

Lester Tan has over 8 years of experience across banking, business development, learning development and content development.

In Standard Chartered, he established the Sustainable Finance content library and led the development and subsequent accreditation of the bank’s sustainability curriculum.

Prior to joining SCB, he was a relationship manager covering the sales relationship for Singapore large corporates at Mizuho bank.
