Tan Chee Peng Andrew

Head, Group Data Management Office, OCBC

Biography

Andrew joined OCBC as the Head, Group Credit Analytics) in 2011. In this role, he spearheaded various initiatives aimed at enhancing data infrastructure, credit dashboards, and reporting capabilities to support the credit portfolio management needs of the bank’s senior management and Board. Additionally, Andrew played a pivotal role in driving key changes to meet the public disclosure requirements set by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), and actively contributed to senior-level project committees where he provided valuable insights and expertise for bank-wide initiatives. 

In his current role as Head, Group Data Management Office (GDMO), Andrew drives the formulation and adoption of data policies, controls and standards within the Group to support its growth agenda by more effectively leveraging on data as an enterprise-wide asset, and through responsible use of models. He is a direct report of the Group Chief Risk Officer (GCRO) and chairs the management committee for data governance and management (i.e., GDMC) in the Bank.

The rollout of capabilities along the journey of establishing data management and governance as a discipline in OCBC had garnered industry accolades such as “The Enterprise Risk Technology Implementation of the Year” by The Asian Banker (2020) for the successful implementation and use of the data management enablement tool.

Andrew is currently member of the ABS Standing Committee on Data Management (SCDM), and was its alternate chair in 2020. The SCDM is part of an industry-led effort to promote collaboration within the industry to enable the effective use of data to drive data-driven innovation for banks in Singapore. Among other industry-level initiatives, Andrew has also provided his expertise and thought leadership as a content contributor in the design of the Data Governance module for the accreditation of Data Certification Pathway with IBF, ASEAN Banking Association’s Interoperable Data Framework (IDF), and Project Nova. 

Andrew has over 25 years of experience in the consulting and banking industry. Prior to OCBC, Andrew was with Accenture where he had served in various capacities in multi-year transformation projects for multinational and regional banks. These included mergers & acquisitions, and large-scale system implementation such as core banking, internet banking platform, financial performance dashboards and Basel II.
