Global Head of Treasury Markets, Standard Chartered Bank
Daniel Koh is the Global Head of Treasury Markets for Standard Chartered Bank and Non-Executive Director on the Standard Chartered Bank (Singapore) Limited Board, where he also sits on the Risk Committee. He also serves on the Board of Trustees of the ISEAS-Yusof Ishak Institute, where he sits on the Investment Committee.
Within Standard Chartered, Dan has held numerous international leadership positions prior to his current role, including leading the Financial Markets business for ASEAN and South Asia, while also sitting on various management committees. In his current position as the Global Head of Treasury Markets, he represents the Bank in engagements with external international stakeholders, while running a global business that spans over 40 countries. He is also responsible for the management of the Bank's liquidity as well as a large portfolio of non-client assets.
With over 27 years of experience in the financial services industry, Dan's industry-wide contributions help shape and strengthen the landscape in Singapore. He led the Association of Banks in Singapore ("ABS") Standing Committee on Financial Markets and oversaw the association of wholesale market practitioners in Financial Markets as President of ACI Singapore (now known as the Financial Markets Association of Singapore). Dan was also a contributing member of the Committee on the Future Economy (CFE), formed by the government to develop economic strategies to position Singapore for the future.
As Committee Member of the Singapore Foreign Exchange Market Committee ("SFEMC") and Chair of the SFEMC Trading sub-committee, he continues to contribute financial markets expertise to the wider industry. In the latter role, he first guided the industry down the path of adopting a new interest rate benchmark (SORA) before his current role as the chair of the sub-group on Derivatives after the SFEMC Trading sub-committee transitioned into the wider Steering Committee on SOR Transition to SORA (SC-STS). As a member of the SFEMC, Dan contributes to fostering the growth and advancement of Singapore as a leading global financial centre, through the development of industry best practices and standards to address technical and structural issues relating to markets.
Dan was a member of the distinguished Young Global Leader Forum, a World Economic Forum (WEF) global community comprising of young leaders who are highly accomplished in their fields. Dan was awarded the IBF Fellow for Financial Markets by The Institute of Banking and Finance Singapore, a title conferred upon industry specialists and veterans who have demonstrated mastery of profession and exemplified thought leadership and commitment to industry development.
